Kids College and Sports Academy

Addthis

Ramapo, NY – There are only two days left to register for Kids College or Sports Academy 2012 at Rockland Community College.

The Sports Academy and Kids College are for children in second through eighth grade and runs for six weeks each summer at RCC. Children can attend both or either of the (2) three week sessions. Session I begins on July 2, and runs through July 20. Session II runs from July 23 to August 10.

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of the Sports Academy at RCC! Many current campers represent multiple generations who have attended, with parents and grandparents wanting to share their positive sports camp experience with new generations. Here, the emphasis is on giving campers an opportunity to try many different sports, to develop their skills at their own pace, and to develop good sportsmanship. A highlight of each session though is the visit from a major league baseball player, with notable past visitors that include Darryl Strawberry, Lou Piniella, Ron Guidry, Catfish Hunter and Mariano Rivera.

Some kids would rather spend their summer doing other things besides sports though, and so 10 years ago Kids College began utilizing the college campus to offer so many interesting activities for kids! With Performing Arts (in a professional level theater), Computer Camp, Art Institute (in a real studio), Awesome Science (robots and rockets!), and options for afternoon activities that include sign language, cooking, photography, swimming, and so much more, Kids College has become a popular summer alternative for Rockland County children and their families.
