Rockland Independent Living Center has started a support group for adults with hearing loss. The purpose of this group is to share information, discuss challenges and the potential for social isolation among people with hearing disabilities, and to help people develop coping strategies.
The group will meet on the first Monday of every month from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 4th at the RILC offices at 873 Route 45 in New City, at the intersection of New Hempstead Road and Route 45. Our guest speaker, Dr. Jeffrey Shannon, an audiologist in New City, will speak about hearing loops, which significantly enhance the functionality of hearing aids.
The mission of the Rockland Independent Living Center is to provide advocacy and leadership in the creation and development of an accessible and integrated community for people with disabilities, so that they may pursue lifestyles of their choice.
New members of this support group are welcome. Light refreshments will be served. If you are interested in attending or would like further information, please call Nancy Housner at 845-624-3053 (CaptionCall telephone) or e-mail Kathy Plachy at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you require a sign language or other language interpreter, please let us know when you RSVP.
