For anyone considering a career in solar power, a renewable energy resource with growing demand, Rockland Community College is offering the professional development course, Introduction to Photovoltaics.
Learn the basics of solar resources, sizing a system to serve a given electrical load, safety procedures, and everything you need to know to prepare for the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Photovoltaics Entry Level Certificate of Knowledge Exam.
The course is five all-day (9 am – 4:30 pm) Saturday sessions, May 26 through June 23. Registration for the course must be submitted by May 21. The instructor is Howard Aschoff, President of the renewable energy consulting company, Novel Approaches, in Middletown NY.
You must register by Monday, July 9 for the NABCEP Exam, which will be given on Friday, July 13, from 6-8 pm. The fee for the course is $599 and the required textbook is $85. The NABCEP Exam fee is $99. Partial scholarships are available! Course prerequisites are: a high school diploma, simple arithmetic skills and basic understanding of electricity including familiarity with volts, amps, and AC wiring.
