About Us

Addthis

Dear Rockland County and surrounding area residents,

Welcome to The Ramapo Times, the online publication that provides community news by our community and for our community.

This rather ambitious adventure in a time where economic uncertainties abound is meant to enhance, help and inform the residents of Rockland County and its neighboring communities. While we hope to provide a service by keeping the public informed of upcoming events, recapping local sports news or simply telling you where the next big garage sale will take place, we can't do any of this without your support.

Ramapo Times doesn't cover a lot of hard news because that's not what we're about. Sure, there will be big events happening in the area that will require a mention from us. But we're here more to provide updates and information and give the people a forum in which they can express their ideas and opinions.

The community is invited and encouraged to send in articles, editorials and blog posts to Ramapo Times. This is what community journalism is all about, subject to our five rules. Those rules are simple - tell us who you are, keep it clean, keep it fair, keep it honest and keep subjective personal attacks to yourself and we'll give you a forum to reach out to the community.

We're not looking to take anyone to task. We're simply looking to exchange ideas and make the community better for everyone.

So look around the site and enjoy what we have up so far. Richard Gandon, our publisher, has gone to great lengths to make this project happen. Drop him a line, say hi and give him any ideas you might have. He's always eager to get some feedback.

We love our community and we know that you do, too. So let's work together to make it an even better place to live and work.

Sincerely,

The Editors
